Nuovo Rinascimento: the value of family businesses at the heart of a sustainable future
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the splendid setting of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, the eighth edition of “New Renaissance” took place — an event promoted by Forbes Italia in collaboration with KON Group.
The event gathered over 230 leading figures of the Italian economy for an open discussion on the role of family businesses as drivers of innovation, sustainability, and growth for the country.
Opening the event, Alessandro Mauro Rossi, Director of Forbes Italia, highlighted how family-owned enterprises make up over 70% of the national production network, preserving the identity, values, and traditions of Made in Italy.
Following him, Francesco Ferragina, President of KON Group, emphasized the central role of the human factor in innovation processes, while Stefano Aversa, President of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, presented the ABF Global LAB project, dedicated to the education and development of new generations.
Cristina Bombassei, President of AIDAF, stressed the importance of shared governance and social sustainability as a legacy for future generations.
The first panel, focused on Generational transition and relationship with the territory, featured Fabrizio Bencini (KON Group), Maurizia Iachino (Andrea Bocelli Foundation), Alessandro Bisazza (Bisazza), and Massimo Romani (Argea), who underlined the deep connection between enterprise and territory as a key to identity and growth.
The second panel showcased virtuous examples of business succession, with contributions from Vincenzo Ferragina (KON Group), Denise Archiutti (Veneta Cucine), Julie De Santis (ItalFarmaco Group), and Velleda Virno (Di Mauro Officine Grafiche), who shared governance models and strategies for continuity of values.
The third panel, dedicated to innovation as a driver of continuity, featured Riccardo Merusi (Mobilia Re), Luca Seu (Noveo), Francesca Stefanelli (Aston Martin Bologna), and Luca Brambilla (Accademia di Comunicazione Strategica), exploring how new technologies and entrepreneurial mindset shape the future of family businesses.
Among the most inspiring moments of the day was the dialogue between Maurizio and Alessandro Marinella, of the historic E. Marinella maison, an example of successful family succession, and the speech by Federico Sella, CEO of Banca Patrimoni Sella, representing one of Italy’s longest-standing entrepreneurial families.
The event concluded with the traditional networking dinner, a moment to strengthen connections, foster new synergies, and celebrate the collaborative spirit that defines the New Renaissance.
